ABSTRAK

As one of modernization of the Islamic movement in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah was born as a manifestation of a profound struggle of thought, he was not just a movement of thought per se, but a real charity in society. In the history and development of its action in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah, both as ideas and organizations, has shown his true identity to run in color vision and mission aspects of life with the modernization of Indonesian Muslims, although the target achieved modernization, especially the education aspects, it seems necessary to further optimize again. However, Muhammadiyah has a positive attitude towards the changes that are nearby, asreflected in the steps that are always being adaptive and accomodative to the existing problems, both political sector, economic, social, and education. In this context, the Muhammadiyah continue to spur the flow system in accordance with the growing age, seen front the development organization, both internal Muhammadiyah itself, like many organization built Muhammadiyah, as well as from external organizations, such as the number of educational institutions, from pre-school ti college who use teaching system Muhammadiyah Keywords: Muhammadiyah, the modernization of education, educational dualism
