Rosida Fitriyani. 2015. A Study on The Students’ Difficulties in Using Question Sentences of The First Grade Students of SMK Syuhada Teknologi Banjarmasin in Academic Year 2014/2015. Thesis, English Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training, Advisor: Drs. H. Ahdi Makmur, M.Ag. Ph.D Keywords: Difficulties, Question Sentences This study describes the students’ difficulties in using question sentences. The statement of problems of this research are (1) how is the students’ difficulty level in using question sentences and (2) what are the most common errors made by students in using question sentences. The objectives of this research are to obtain the difficulty level of the first grade students in using question sentences and to find out the most students’ common errors in using question sentences. The population of this research are 44 of 148 students of the first grade students at SMK Syuhada Teknologi Banjarmasin in academic year 2014/2015. The object of this research are the students’ difficulties in using question sentences and the students’ common errors in using question sentences. The data collected by using some techniques. They are; written test, documentary, observation and interview. All the data which have been collected are processed through editing and classification, then analyzed descriptively and concluded inductively. The result of this research shows that the difficulty level of the first grade students in using question sentences at SMK Syuhada Teknologi Banjarmasin in academic year 2014/2015 is in high category, so their ability is interpreted in low category with mean score 28. The students’ common errors done by students; first, they still cannot distinguish the usage of what, where, when, who, whose, which, why and how in WH Questions, second, they didn’t pay attention to the sentence which one positive or negative sentence is and did wrong in the use of auxiliary or to be at the end in Tag Questions, and the last, they could not determine which auxiliary verb or which to be that use in Yes/No Questions.
