Rusmilawati. 2016. THE ABILITY OF STUDENTS IN READING COMPREHENSION OF ESP AT THE THIRD SEMESTER OF AKBID BUNGA KALIMANTAN ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-2016, Thesis. English Education Department, The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training. Advisors: (I) Dr. Hj. Nida Mufidah, M. Pd, (II) Raida Asfihana, M.Pd. Keywords: Ability, Reading Comprehension, Student, English Specific Purpose Language as a tool for communication, that takes an important role in our daily activities. Language becomes an important thing and people around the world use it. There are many languages in the world, one of them is English. In Language there are four skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing. Reading is the important for studying of students with reading comprehension students to know the content of the text with reading students can get much information for increasing their ability. The ability is the competence about the mastery knowledge. This ability is competence of students in the education area. In this regard, the researcher is interested in conducting a research about Reading. The problem formulations of this research are: How is the students’ ability and what are the most students’ common errors in reading comprehension of ESP at the third semester of AKBID Bunga Kalimantan academic year 2015-2016? In this research the students as the sample. The samples of this study are 66 students. ESP is the use by lecturer of students for getting information that real and appropriate with the mayor and that need of students for example in this research ESP use for midwife so the lecturer must give the students material that real and appropriate with the mayor, they curriculum and syllabus. In here students need ESP for midwife like for using in health and way for interact with people and read English book about health that not use general English but specific English To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as observation, and test. Data processing in this study is divided into three phases: tabulating, checking, scoring, classifying and interpreting. Then all the data are analyzed descriptively, quantitatively and concluded inductively. The result of this research shows that the ability of students in reading comprehension of ESP at the third semester in AKBID Bunga Kalimantan academic year 2015-2016 is good category. It can be seen from calculating the mean score of total students is 72.83. The result of the most students’ common errors in reading comprehension of ESP at the third semester of AKBID Bunga Kalimantan is transition because of the tally of students mistake is 84 in frequency.
