ABSTRAK

This research describes the comparative study on students’ achievement between those who do private tutoring activity and not of English Department at IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The statement of problem of this research: Is there any different on students’ achievement between those who do and don’t do private tutoring activity. The objectives of this research is to know students’ achievement between those who do and don’t do private tutoring activity. The population in this study are the fifth semester students of English Department of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin academic year 2013/2014. The sample in this study are the fifth semester students have been and not have been teaching Private Tutoring Activity of English Department of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin academic year 2013/2014. The collect the data, writers uses some technique, namely questionnaire and documentary. Questionnaire as instrument of data collection. Collecting data with this technique is done to obtain data on the independent variables, while documentary to collect data dependent variable, namely the students' academic achievement of English Department of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training Faculty at IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The result of this research, it is seen mean score of students who do private tutoring is 3.48 and do not private tutoring is 3.34. Based on the explanation of the formulas above, it is clearly seen that t count ( < t-table 5% (2.02) < t-table 1% (2.71). t-table is higher than t count. Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) is rejected and Ho (Zero Hypothesis) is accepted. By this result, the writer concludes that Ha is accepted.
