ABSTRAK

The problem formulation of this research are: what techniques that used in teaching English, how to apply them at GENTA course in intermediate program, and what is the students’ respond toward teachers’ technique in teaching process. The subjects in this research are two English teachers and 10 intermediate students in Genta course, Pare – English Village. The object of this research are techniques of English teaching and the students’ respond toward teachers’ technique in teaching at intermediate program in GENTA course, Pare – English Village. To collect the data, The writer uses som techniques such as observation, interview, and questionnaire. Data processing in this research is divided into three stage, they are editing, coding, data interpretation. Then all data are analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The result of the research denoted that the techniques that used by teacher in grammar class are: memorization, use word in sentence, fill-in-the-blank, and multiple choice. And the techniques that used by teacher in speaking class are: word chart, repetition drill, memorization, question and answer exercise, human computer, authentic materials, video recording students conversation, and listening music. The result of this research about the students’ response toward teachers’ technique in grammar class, 70% students said there was not different technique in every meeting. The students’ response toward teachers’ technique in speaking class, 50% students said that teacher used the same technique in almost every meeting.
