Fitriani, 2009. Some Errors in Using Verb Made by the Second Grade Students of Islamic Senior High School Siti Mariam Banjarmasin in Academic Year 2008/2009. Thesis, English Department, Islamic Education Faculty. Advisor: (I) Drs. H. Syarifuddin Syukur, M.A (II) Drs Saadillah, M.Pd. Verb is one of important element of part of speech in English. Verb in English is more complex than verb in Indonesian because there is no rule of verb in Indonesian language such as in English which verb has to agree with the subject both in number and person. Verb in English are also depend on tenses. Therefore it can cause many errors that made by the people who learn English. Learning errors in using verbs is very important because we can try to point out the errors commonly made by the people and way to correct those errors by learning that we can use the verb correctly. The purpose of this research is to describe errors in using verbs made by the second grade students of Islamic Senior High School Siti Mariam Banjarmasin in academic year 2008/2009. Populations of this research are all the second grade students of Islamic Senior High School Siti Mariam Banjarmasin in academic year 2008/2009, there are 112 students. Sample of this research are 28 students (25%) that taken by using proportional random sampling technique The data of this research are collected though written test, interview, observation and documentary, while in processing the data. It is used editing, coding, scoring, tabulating, and data interpretation. The data about the students’ mastery in using verb correctly made by the second grade students is analyzed descriptively and qualitatively and concluded by using inductive method. The result of this research indicates that the mastery of the second grade students in using verb correctly of Islamic Senior High School Siti Mariam Banjarmasin in academic year 2008/2009 is in poor category with the mean score 37, 25, it is obtained that the errors in using verbs to classified to category of very high errors. Most of them could not using verb correctly, especially in the form of present perfect tense, present future continuous tense and past continuous tense.
