ABSTRAK

Hj. Salwa Safitri. 2010. The Influence of Using Audio Visual Media toward Students’ Achievement in Learning English (Study Case of The Eight Grade of SMPIT Ukhuwah Banjarmasin. Thesis, English Department, Tarbiyah Faculty. Advisor (I) DR. H. Husnul Yaqin, M.Ed, and advisor (II) Dra. Dina Hermina, M.Pd. This research is based on from rational that media as one is factors which is enough to determine students’ success. Especially media that rely on picture and voice as said Audio Visual media, where this media very useful to increase interest, motivation, and students’ achievement. But this media will not give strong influence without accompanied by maximal using from teacher or students selves. This research proposes problems about teacher’s implementation in using audio visual media with another teaching aspects. And the influence of using audio visual media toward students’ achievement. As subject of this research is all students at the eighth grade SMPIT Ukhuwah Banjarmasin, that number are 81 students, include 47 males and 34 females and one English teacher. And object of this research is the influence of using audio visual media toward students’ achievement in learning English. Techniques of data collecting which are used, there are observation, questionnaire, and documentary. And techniques of data processing are editing, coding, scoring, recapitulation, tabulating, interpretation. And analysis of data by using “r” product moment. The reslut of this research, we have known that teacher’s implementation in teaching by using audio visual media in learning English process. From observation result during eigth meetings and questionnaire result all of students. That, all of students of eigth grade estimated their teacher is very good, with mean score is 81,08. This estimation gotten from 20 aspcts which is estimated in learning and teaching English process. After that, from this research we have known that there is influence from teacher’s implementation in teaching by using audio visual media toward students’ achievement. Because, mean scores all of students in eigth grade is 77,82, the category is good. And from analysis r product moment, we have known between x variable and y variable there is very high correlation, is 0.99. It means there is influence between teacher’s implementation in teaching by using audio visual media toward students’ achievement.
