ABSTRAK

Halidah. 2015. Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension Ability in English by Using Suggestopedy Approach of VIIC Class at MTs Miftahul Aula Bangkal Cempaka Banjarbaru, Thesis, Department of English, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching. Advisor: Dra. Hj. Wardah Hayati, M.A. Keywords: Reading Comprehension, Suggestopedy The low ability in reading comprehension of class VIIC MTs Miftahul Aula Bangkal Banjarbaru makes researcher interested in conducting a classroom action research with the aim to determine the increase of reading comprehension abilities of the students through learning Suggestopedy approach. Subjects in this study were students of class VIIC MTs Miftahul Aula Bangkal Banjarbaru second semester of academic year 2014/2015, 29 students composed of 12 boys and 17 girls. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisted of 2 meetings. Data are collected through tests, observation and discussion with colleagues. Data were analysis through descriptive analysis of using techniques of percentage to see trends in learning activities. The implementation of Suggestopedy approach as an effort to enhance students' skills in reading comprehension goes well as planned by the teacher. It can be seen from: (1) The teaching and learning shows that in the first cycle is 79,50% and then improve into 95,50% in the second cycle(improved 16,00%). (2) Students activities also increased from the first cycle average 63,75% into 83,75%, so it improves 20,00%. (3) The students’ ability in reading comprehen-sion also increased from the average of 64,31 in the first cycle into 73,62 in the second cycle. It improves 9,31. The mastery learning also improve 44,83% into the 93,10%.
