The problem formulation of this research are: What kind of strategies used mostly by the students in listening course on the fourth semester of English Department IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin and is there any correlation between learning strategies used by the students on the fourth semester of English Department IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin and their listening comprehension ability. The subject of this research is 50 students of the fourth semester of English Department of Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The object of the research is the students’ learning strategies, students’ listening comprehension ability, and the correlation between learning strategies used by students and their listening comprehension ability. To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as observation, test, and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into four phases: editing, coding, classifying, and interpreting. Then, all the data are analyzed quantitatively using a contingency coefficient correlation formula. The result of this research states that the kind of strategies used mostly by students is social strategy. It is proven by 50% of respondents who choose social strategy in learning listening. The Phi value obtained is 0,320., which is higher than fault significant 5% means that there is a correlation between learning strategies used by students and listening comprehension ability.
