ABSTRAK

Rahmah. 2015. Students’ Mastery in Using Paired Conjunction of the Eleventh Grade at State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 2 Model Banjarmasin Academic Year 2014/2015. Thesis, English Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training. Advisor: Nurlaila Kadariyah, S.Ag, M.Pd. Keywords:Mastery, Paired Conjunction This research is conducted at the eleventh grade of State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 2 Model Banjarmasin Academic Year 2014/2015. The problem formulations of this research are: 1) How is the students’ masteryin using paired conjunction of the eleventh grade at State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 2 Model Banjarmasin Academic Year 2014/2015? 2) What are the most students’ common errors in using paired conjunction of the eleventh grade at State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 2 Model Banjarmasin Academic Year 2014/2015? Based on the statement of problems above, this research is supposed to know the students’ mastery and the most students’ common errors in using paired conjunction of the eleventh grade at State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 2 Model Banjarmasin Academic Year 2014/2015. The subjects of this research are 115 students of the eleventh grade at MAN 2 Model Banjarmasin Academic Year 2014/201. The object of the research is students’ mastery in using paired conjunction of the eleventh grade at State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 2 Model Banjarmasin Academic Year 2014/2015. The data is collected by using techniques such as test, documentary, and interview. Data processing in this research is divided into five phases: editing, scoring, classifying, tabulating and interpreting. All the data are analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. Then, they are concluded inductively. The result of the research shows that the level of the eleventh grade students’ ability in using paired conjunction is infair category. It is based on calculation its mean that is 61.44. After analyzing each type of test, the writer found that the most students’ common errors is inusing either…or (30.77%) and neither…nor (30.77%). Factors that influence students’ scores are lack of mastery of subject-verb agreement and lack of mastery of tenses.
