ABSTRAK

Hj. Munawarah. 2015. The Effectiveness of Teaching Narrative Text by Using Total Physical Response Storytelling at Madrasah Aliyah Darul Imad Banjar Regency Academic Year 2014/2015. Thesis. English Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training. Advisor: Dr. H. Husnul Yaqin, M.Ed. Keywords: Effectiveness, Narrative Text, Total Physical Response Storytelling. The problem formulation of this research are : How is the effectiveness of teaching narrative text by using total physical response storytelling at Madrasah Aliyah Darul Imad Banjar regency academic year 2014/2015, Is there any significant difference in teaching Narrative text by using Total Physical Response Storytelling between control class and experiment class. The subjects in this study are 52 students of the eleventh grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Darul Imad that divided into two classes are XI C as experiment class are 26 students and XI A as control class are 26 students. The objects of this research are the effectiveness of teaching narrative text by using total physical response storytelling and is Total phyical response storytelling more effective than traditional method. To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as test (spoken test) divided into two test are pre-test and post-test, observation, interview, and documentary. Data processing in this study is divided into four phases: editing, coding, tabulating, and data interpretation. Then all the data are analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and concluded inductively. The result of this research states that the students’ speaking ability of narrative text storytelling for experiment class by using Total physical response storytelling is effective category and without using Total physical response storytelling is effective enough, it can be seen from calculating mean for experiment class is 72,92 and control class is 63,84. This research is indicated that Alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, because the students’ t test (to) = 4,65 is higher than t table (tt) 5% = 2,01 and 1% = 2,68. So there is a significant difference the effectiveness between students in experiment class and control class. From the finding of the result to teaching narrative text is more effective by using total physical response storytelling.
