Keywords: Effect, Role Play, Reading Aloud, Speaking Skill The problems formulation of this research are: How is student’s achievement in speaking skill without using role play of reading aloud in control class at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Barabai academic year 2014/2015, How is student’s achievement in speaking skill by using role play of reading aloud in experimental class at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Barabai academic year 2014/2015, Is there any significant difference between students’ achievement in speaking skill by using role play of reading aloud in control class and in experimental class. The subject in this study are 60 students at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Barabai that divided into two classes are VII A as experiment class are 30 students and VII B as control class are 30 students. The object of this research is the students’ achievement in speaking skill between experiment class by using role play of reading aloud and control class without using role play of reading aloud. To collect the data, the writer uses some technique as test (oral test) divided in two tests are pre-test and post-test, observation, interview and documentary. Data processing in this research in divided into three phases: editing, coding and tabulating. Then all the data are analyzed qualitatively, quantitatively and concluded inductively. The result of this research states that the students’ achievement in speaking skill for experiment class by using role play of reading aloud is good category and for control class is fair category, it can be seen from the calculation mean for experiment class is 78,33 and for control class is 68,33. This research is indicated that Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, because the students’ t test (t0) is higher than t table (tt). So, there is a significant difference in students’ achievement in speaking skill by using role play of reading aloud in experimental class and control class. It can be seen from t table (5% = 2.00) < t-test (3,48) > t table (1% = 2.65). From the finding of the result in English teaching and learning by using role play of reading aloud is more effective.
