ABSTRAK

The statements of problems of this research are: 1) How is the students’ ability in mastering Academic Vocabulary?, 2) What is the most difficult part of the Academic Vocabulary that students have?. The sample of this research is 60 students of the seventh semester students of English Department of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training Faculty at IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin Academic Year 2013/2014. The objects of this research are the seventh semester students’ ability in mastering Academic Vocabulary and the most difficult part of the Academic Vocabulary that students have. To collect the data, the researcher uses some methods, for example test, interview, and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into four phases: editing, classifying, scoring, and tabulating. Then, all data are analysed quantitatively, descriptively, and inductively. The result of this research states that the seventh semester students’ ability in mastering Academic Vocabularyis in Fair Category based on the mean score 63,57. The seventh semester students’ most difficult part is in sublist 7 with 5 most error (55,56%) from 9 test items. The most difficult item is comprehensive with 53 error (88,33%)
